Product Specification

Product Description

Makha Wood Parquet Tongue and Groove Flooring Other Names: Makha, Afzelia xylocarpa (Kurz) Craib, Makamong, Maramond, Pahudia xylocarpa Kurz, Pahudia cochinchinensis Pierre, Afzelia siamica Craib, Afzelia cochinchinensis. Family: Fabaceae Caesalpinioideae Janka Hardness: ***0 (Very hard wood) Makha is also known as Mai Macka. Sometimes it is referred to as atype of Ironwood due to the hardness of the wood. There are other species of trees in the Afzelia Genus with similar properties and most of these other species come out of Africa. However, the Asian speciesis typically the Xylocarpa. The heartwood from Makha is reddish brown in color. The red color in the Makha lumber is lighter than the reddish color of the Pyinkado or Padauk lumber. The color will deepen with age and exposure. Grain lines are straight and there is no odor to this wood. This is an attractive, luxury class red wood. Its beauty and strength make it ideal for use in cabinetry, sculpture and flooring. The wood is highly valuable and used for many purposes, including high quality furniture, wood carving, and house construction. The parquet is cut into tongue and groove and then kiln dried for around 3 to 4 weeks to ensure there is no shrinkage or movement in the wood as it ages. There are a whole range of sizes available. If you have a particular size requirement, please contact us. 1 x 2 x *2 and up 1 x 4 x *4 and up 1 x 6 x *6 and up 1 x 8 x *6 and up sizes given in inches For a full range of our timber offerings, please see http://*****
